The airline Azores Azores Airlines (ex-SATA international) will start flights to Cape Verde on June 2 next year, reveals the company spokesman, António Portugal, to Expresso das Ilhas. The Azores Airlines will also fly from Ponta Delgada (Azores) to the Praia twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, in an A320, with a capacity of 165 passengers.  One of the objectives of the operation to the Cape Verdean capital is to capture customers in Boston, one of the airline’s international destinations, offering a link to Cape Verde.

Plans on opening the route to Cape Verde has been in the works since 2015. Now, the airline company, which has recently undergone a period of restructuring, with brand new aircrafts and new destinations, decided to move forward, scheduling the beginning of flights for the summer of 2017.
