The Cape Verdean Basketball Association (ACVB) collaborated with the city of Brockton to coordinate the Community Day Event with youth from the city and surrounding communities. The youth came from as far as Boston and even Providence.
The players and coaches of the league conducted training clinics for youth as young as 4 and up to 15 years old.
Mass State Rep Evandro Carvalho spoke to the youth giving them words of encouragement and positivity. He then joined Boston Police and Boston Fire who were also present and participating, and they competed in a celebrity basketball game between city officials and leaders of Brockton. Brockton stole the game at the end and now brandish their trophy at the Brockton Police Headquarters.
The Community Day Event was a success and the League is looking to continue to do similar events in surrounding cities and communities.
