In May 2017, A.C.V.B was invited to take part in a tournament in São Vicente and São Antao, Cabo Verde. This trip included humanitarian work with the two islands to coordinate basketball clinics, provide donations, and community service work, primarily, to focus on rebuilding basketball courts and providing donations. 10 players were sent to represent AC.V.B in this humanitarian trip. The goal is for A.C.V.B to participate in these types of projects annually providing support to different islands in Cabo Verde, Portugal, Angola, etc. The hope is that this initiative will motivate other Cape Verdean basketball players and organizations to partake in this project.

A.C.V.B conducted Kids Day/Dia Das Crianças in May 2017 in collaboration with the Pedro Pires Institute at the University Bridgewater State in Massachusetts. The organization had major success serving 75 kids of all cultures. A.C.V.B would like to conduct this event at least annually targeting children and young adults using the players as volunteers and tutors. The goal is to eventually conduct these clinics in schools as an after program, using basketball with a therapeutic approach to teach life skills and develop leadership skills. We want to use the same techniques, principles, and discipline used in karate classes in these clinics but using basketball to teach these important leadership skills. We strongly believe that this approach will be most effective in the success of these clinics.

A.C.V.B (Associação Cabo Verdiana de Basketbol) is an organization established in Boston, MA. The organization is its infancy with only 10 months operating. The mission of A.C.V.B is to connect communities both national and internationally through basketball with young fathers and children of all ages. Since we started in September 2016, the organization began a league of 6 teams (Predio, Bairro, Lenfer, ABC, Volcanic and Campana Lança – two teams with players from Fogo) that lasted about 9 months. The organization is looking to add two more teams to represent Sal and São Vicente. The goal is to have all 9 island represented in the association with multiple teams.

A.C.V.B is open to meet with the Cape Verdean basketball federation to discuss this long-term collaboration to join and give back to our communities by doing these services in the communities that need assistance the most.
