There are three games left before the regular season is over. For some teams, these games will determine their seeding going into the playoffs. ABC and Lenfer have the same record at 5-2. The league will use a unique format that is more commonly used in the European-African leagues. It is a format designed to allow every team to play the same amount of playoff games and the winner is determined by point deferential. This format still allows the #1 teams to match up the team with the worst record. Playoff games begin on June 4, 2017.
Campana Lança remains on top sitting comfortably at 7-0. This week they played against struggling Volcanic, and they strolled through Volcanic defeating them 91-71. Chris Owden of Volcanic scored 33 points this game, his season high. This game proved that Campana’s weakness maybe defending the perimeter shooting. Owden has no help on Volcanic. The team shot at 26% from the 3-pt line. Many Monteiro of Campana finished with 20-points and 6-assists.
The rivalry between Predio and Clube Desportivo ABC continues to be strong. Whenever these two teams meet there is great animosity and tension between the players. However, this game belonged to Yannick Paiva of ABC who scored 17-points, shooting 75% from the field. Paiva, a.k.a YP sparked ABC with great confidence this game who was missing their center, Vinny Lima. Predio showed some resilience competing against ABC. Predio was wining most of the first half. But their lack of communication caused major confusion and breakdown and players were noticeably agitated with each other. ABC quickly regained a lead and controlled the pace of the game to their advantage. ABC beat Predio 41-33.
